Fat Pete Records is the home of Freddie Steady Krc, Sal Valentino, and many more to come. Freddie Krc; A native Texan born and raised in Houston, Freddie Krc (pronounced Kerch) began playing professionally in 1973 and settled to Austin in 1974. Starting his career as a "sideman", Freddie played and recorded with such Texas music luminaries as Jerry Jeff Walker, B.W. Stevenson and psychedelic music pioneer Roky Erickson, who was the lead singer of the legendary 13th Floor Elevators. Freddie has fronted his own groups such as The Shakin' Apostles and Freddie Steady's Wild Country. He was also a member of the Austin-based, world renowned power pop trio The Explosives. Also Featuring Sal Valentino, a man blessed with a voice in a million, is back with a brand new album that should send goose bumps down the spine of anyone with a sense of rock 'n' roll history. The former lead singer of the Beau Brummels--the groundbreaking San Francisco combo that beat the Byrds to the punch in late 1964 by creating a hypnotic, jangling new hybrid known as folk-rock--has always excelled at lump-in-the-throat (or head-in-the-gas-oven) songs of broken-hearted desperation. Keith Sykes will soon be joining the label. Keith served a brief stint in Buffett’s road band, after Buffett recorded two of Keith’s songs on the platinum Son of a Son of a Sailor LP. Keith later co-wrote what was to become the Parrot-head anthem, “Volcano.” Sykes had one or more songs, (either on LPs or singles, as a writer, co-writer or publisher), on one of Billboard’s music or movie charts continuously from 1978 through 1984, then again from 1986 to this year. The artists who have covered his songs sounds like a seating chart at The Grammy Awards, including not only Buffett but also Jerry Jeff Walker, Patty Loveless, Guy Clark, John Prine, The Judds, Rosanne Cash, Lacy Jay Dalton and Rodney Crowell, among others. We look forward to releasing his next album… more at fatpete.com
